Intermission

After our whistle stop (actually I am not sure the train analogy is quite right - it was more like a ship’s horn) tour around the centre of Europe, we all headed back to Dubai for a brief break and I will continue the story of our subsequent adventures over the next few days but I thought I would use this opportunity to update on other news.

As alluded to in earlier posts, there has been much change in the household. V has now completed her school career and has embarked on a Fine Arts degree at University and A has switched to what he has described as an integrated masters degree in Computer Science so both of them are at University in UK (by coincidence around 30 minutes drive from each other) and E has been back in the UK to make sure that V settles in and also to be closer to her Mother.

In the meantime, we have downsized our home in Dubai to reflect (a) the need for less space and (b) the ridiculously high rentals that Dubai is currently experiencing (although I guess some would say a much needed and overdue pricing correction…. . Not sure I would agree but it certainly makes the Sandpit a much more expensive place to live).

As a result, we have all been adapting to our new living arrangements including the cat who - much to her chagrin - is still confined to barracks for the transitioning period between moving from our old home to the new villa and also to take a account of the fact that E and V are no longer around to entertain her.

Having spent the best part of 2 months away over the Summer I have been full on getting back up to speed  at work so have not had much opportunity to get to know our new residence although I have  explored in some detail the delights of our locale by bike - an interesting mixture of residential and educational facilities and desert location out of Dubai). Now that the Summer heat has (finally) started to disparate, I hope to spend a bit more time outside.
